        How to Replace Floor Tiles

        Damaged floor tiles can ruin a look of a room, but installing a completely new floor is expensive. Follow these steps on replacing damaged floor tiles.

        Highlights:

        Step 1: Remove the Damaged Tiles

        With a chisel, remove any loose tiles around the focused area. Also remove any debris.

        Step 2: Apply the Thin-Set

        Make a small batch of thin-set, and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then, apply it to the area.

        Step 3: Place the Tiles

        Back-butter each tile individually (image 1) and place them with a bit of pressure until they are level with the existing tiles (image 2).

        Step 4: Remove Excess Thin-Set

        Wipe excess thin-set off with a wet sponge. Gently push down the tiles one last time.
