        How to Paint Faux Wood-Grain Pocket Doors

        Highlights:

        Step 1: Apply a Base Coat

        Apply base coat and allow to dry.

        Step 2: Mix and Apply the Top Coat Glaze

        Add three parts glaze to one part latex paint to create a top coat glaze. Apply topcoat glaze in sections.

        Before topcoat dries drag a dry brush across the groove of the door and flat areas with a slight wiggle.

        Step 3: Brush Over Top Coat with a Sea Sponge

        On the inlay panel of the door go over the wet top coat with a sea sponge, using a tight twisting motion to create the look of burl wood grain.

        Colors used:

        Soul of the Earth (KM4072-5) latex eggshell for top coat
        Banana Leaf (KM4120-5) latex eggshell for top coat glaze
